Stalking

If you are being stalked by your (ex) partner, or someone connected with them, here are some suggestions that you might find useful.  Stalking can include being followed, watched or getting repeated unwanted attention/contact.  The actions do not need to be threatening or abusive for it to be considered stalking.

If at any time you feel at immediate risk or danger, you should call 999.   If you are unable to speak without alerting your stalker, press 55 when prompted and your call will be transferred to the police.  You can find out more about this here: Silent Solution 999 Calls

  • We recommend using the Followit app, which allows you to record and store evidence of any stalking incidents.  If you can't download apps to your phone, use a diary to keep a record of the date, time, place and details of any stalking incidents
  • Where possible, do not engage with your stalker
  • If you think you are being followed, make your way to a public place e.g. a shop, police station, public building
  • Look out for pubs, clubs and other premises that have the 'Ask for Angela' scheme, which have trained staff who can get you to safety
  • Report any behaviour that is a breach of bail conditions, or non-harassment order, to the police
  • Read our other sections for suggestions that might work for your situation
  • You can find more information and support at Action Against Stalking

If at any time you feel at immediate risk or danger, you should call 999.
